Bannock, also known as fry bread, is a quick bread made of flour that can be baked or fried.The crispy on the outside, soft on the inside food goes well with any meal. From bannock burgers to indian tacos, to dessert, there is always room on your table for bannock.
How to Prepare It
- Stovetop
- 1. Pour contents into a bowl
- 2. Add 13/4 up to 2 ⅓ cups of water
- 3. Stir
- 4. Add oil to a medium skillet until it is half full
- 5. Heat oil to 375 or med-high heat for 5 to 10 minutes
- 6. Add batter a tablespoon at a time
- 7. Cook until Golden Brown (approximately 4-5 minutes)
- Oven
- 1. Pour contents into a bowl
- 2. Add 1 ½ tablespoons of lard
- 3. Work lard into mixture like pie dough
- 4. Add 2 ⅓ cups of water
- 5. Pour into greased cake pan
- 6. Bake at 350F for 45-60 minutes
